ADR hazard number 20

Hazard identification number 20 on the orange plate: asphyxiant gas, or a gas with no subsidiary hazard.

Printed in the upper half of the orange-coloured plate above the UN number, 20 identifies an asphyxiant gas, or a gas with no subsidiary hazard. The trailing zero shows that the first figure alone describes the hazard.

Digit by digit
2gas given off, either because of pressure or through a chemical reaction
0no further hazard: a single figure describes the hazard adequately, so it is followed by zero

Note. Number and meaning pairing checked against a second text extraction of the list.
