ADR mixed packing provision MP23
Class 1 articles: same UN number, own non-functioning means of initiation, or MP24; no other classes or non-ADR goods.
MP23 lets the articles share a package with articles of the same UN number. Class 1 goods of other UN numbers are barred except their own means of initiation that will not function in normal carriage, or combinations MP24 allows. Other classes and non-ADR goods may not be included. A mixed package may need its classification revised under 2.2.1.1, and 5.4.1.2.1 (b) governs the description in the transport document.
Conditions
- (a) Own means of initiation, if they will not function under normal carriage conditions; or
- (b) as provided for by MP24.
Note. Unlike MP22, compatibility groups C, D and E are not an exception here. The closing paragraph on 2.2.1.1 and 5.4.1.2.1 (b) is printed at the top of page 179.
Refers to: MP24; 2.2.1.1; 5.4.1.2.1 (b).
