General packing instruction for liquids: combination, single, composite packagings and pressure receptacles, with capacity/mass limits by packing group.
The default instruction for liquids. It allows combination packagings (glass, plastics or metal inners in drums, boxes or jerricans), single drums and jerricans, composite packagings and pressure receptacles meeting 4.1.3.6, each with a maximum capacity or net mass that depends on packing group I, II or III. The general rules of 4.1.1 and 4.1.3 must be met, and 4.1.3.3 explains how the limits are read. Class 3 liquids of packing group III that give off small amounts of carbon dioxide or nitrogen must travel in vented packagings. Removable-head single drums and jerricans may hold packing group I liquids only when the viscosity exceeds 2 680 mm2/s.

Conditions
- Class 3, packing group III liquids that release small quantities of carbon dioxide or nitrogen need vented packagings.
- Pressure receptacles are also allowed if 4.1.3.6 is met.

Note.
