ADR packing instruction P003

Heading in ADR: “P003 PACKING INSTRUCTION”

Goods go in suitable outer packagings of adequate strength built to 6.1.4; articles and inners must be held so they cannot fall out in transit.

A performance-based instruction: the dangerous goods must be put in suitable outer packagings, made of an appropriate material and strong enough for their capacity and use, constructed to the requirements of 6.1.4 and meeting the general rules cited in the instruction and 4.1.3. When articles or the inner packagings of a combination packaging are carried under it, the packaging must be designed so the contents cannot escape accidentally during normal carriage. Most of its practical detail sits in the PP and RR provisions printed with it.
