Heading in ADR: “P301 PACKING INSTRUCTION”

UN 3165 aircraft hydraulic power unit fuel tanks: aluminium pressure receptacle with bladder, max 42 l fuel, in cushioned metal outer packaging.

Covers UN 3165. Two designs are allowed: (1) an aluminium pressure receptacle made from tubing with welded heads, with a welded aluminium bladder of up to 46 litres, design gauge pressure at least 1 275 kPa and burst at least 2 755 kPa; or (2) an aluminium pressure receptacle with a welded vapour-tight fuel compartment and elastomeric bladder of up to 46 litres, design gauge pressure at least 2 860 kPa and burst at least 5 170 kPa. In both cases each receptacle is leak checked in manufacture and before dispatch, packed in non-combustible cushioning such as vermiculite inside a strong, tightly closed metal outer packaging protecting all fittings, and the fuel per primary containment and package is limited to 42 litres.
