Heading in ADR: “P400 PACKING INSTRUCTION”
Steel pressure receptacles under inert gas, or hermetically sealed metal cans with small glass/metal inners in cushioned drums, boxes or jerricans.
Three options. (1) Steel pressure receptacles meeting 4.1.3.6, tested initially and every 10 years at 1 MPa (10 bar gauge) or more, with the liquid kept under an inert gas blanket of at least 20 kPa (0.2 bar) gauge in transit. (2) Boxes, drums or jerricans of the listed types holding hermetically sealed metal cans that contain glass or metal inners of up to 1 litre with gasketed closures, outer net mass up to 125 kg. (3) Metal drums, jerricans or boxes of up to 150 kg net holding hermetically sealed metal cans of up to 4 litres with gasketed closures, each layer separated by a partition. In (2) and (3) the inner closures must be threaded or otherwise held against loosening, every inner is wrapped on all sides in dry, non-combustible absorbent able to soak up the whole contents, and inners are filled to no more than 90 %.
