ADR packing instruction P622
Heading in ADR: “P622 PACKING INSTRUCTION”
Waste UN 3549 for disposal: metal/plastics inner and intermediate in PG I (solids) outers, liquid-retaining; flexible inners max 30 kg.
Covers waste of UN 3549 carried for disposal. Metal or plastics inner and intermediate packagings go inside the listed boxes, removable-head drums or removable-head jerricans, with the outer meeting packing group I performance for solids. Fragile articles need a rigid inner or intermediate packaging, sharps need rigid puncture-resistant inners, and all three layers must retain liquids (outers that cannot by design need a liner). Flexible inner or intermediate packagings must pass impact (at least 165 g, ISO 7765-1:1988) and tear (at least 480 g, ISO 6383-2:1983) tests, each flexible inner may hold at most 30 kg, and each flexible intermediate only one inner. Small amounts of free liquid are allowed if enough absorbent or solidifying material is present, and intermediates must be cushioned in the outer.
