ADR packing instruction P908
Heading in ADR: “P908 PACKING INSTRUCTION”
Damaged or defective lithium/sodium ion cells and batteries: individually packed in PG II packagings with thermal insulation; >30 kg one per outer.
Covers damaged or defective cells and batteries, including those in equipment, of UN 3090, 3091, 3480, 3481, 3551 and 3552. They go in removable-head drums, boxes or removable-head jerricans meeting packing group II performance. Each cell, battery or item of equipment is packed individually in an inner packaging inside an outer, with the inner or outer leakproof against electrolyte, surrounded by non-combustible, electrically non-conductive thermal insulation, cushioned against vibration and movement, and vented where sealed packagings need it; the non-combustibility is assessed to a standard recognised where the packaging is designed or made. Leaking cells need enough inert absorbent, cells or batteries over 30 kg net are limited to one per outer, and all must be protected against short circuit.
