ADR packing instruction P912
Heading in ADR: “P912 PACKING INSTRUCTION”
Battery-powered vehicles (UN 3556-3558): strong rigid outer packaging with vehicle restrained; 30 kg+ vehicles in crates, on pallets or unpackaged.
Covers UN 3556, 3557 and 3558. The vehicle must be secured in a strong, rigid outer packaging built to prevent accidental operation and restrained so it cannot move, change orientation or damage its battery; 4.1.1.3 need not be met, packagings may exceed 400 kg net, and parts other than the battery may be detached to fit. Vehicles of 30 kg net or more may instead be loaded into crates or onto pallets, travel unpackaged if they stand upright unsupported and protect the battery, or, if they could topple (such as motorcycles), travel unpackaged in a cargo transport unit fitted with bracing, frames or racking.
