ADR portable tank instruction T50

Heading in ADR: “PORTABLE TANK INSTRUCTION”

Per-gas portable tank table for non-refrigerated liquefied gases and chemicals under pressure (UN 3500–3505): MAWP, openings, relief, filling.

T50 applies to non-refrigerated liquefied gases and to chemicals under pressure (UN 3500, 3501, 3502, 3503, 3504 and 3505); the tank must meet 4.2.2 and 6.7.3. Instead of one test pressure it lists, gas by gas, the maximum allowable working pressure in bar for four tank conditions (Small, Bare, Sunshield, Insulated), whether openings below the liquid level are allowed, the pressure-relief requirement and the maximum filling ratio. "Small" is a shell of 1.5 m diameter or less; Bare, Sunshield and Insulated are shells over 1.5 m without protection, with a sun shield, or with insulation (6.7.3.2.12). "Normal" in the relief column means no frangible disc under 6.7.3.7.3 is needed; otherwise 6.7.3.7.3 applies. For UN 3500–3505 the degree of filling (TP4) is used in place of a filling ratio.

Note. The values are per gas across pages 193–199 and the columns read scrambled in the extraction (notably page 199); read each gas from the instruction itself. Some n.o.s. and mixture entries refer to the MAWP definition in 6.7.3.1 rather than giving figures.
