ADR tank code L15DH(+)
ADR tank code for Classes 1 and 3–9: liquid tank, 15 bar, openings D, hermetically closed, suffix (+).
L15DH(+) is decoded part by part from the 4.3.4.1.1 table for Classes 1 and 3–9. Part 1 "L" is a tank for liquid-state substances (liquids, or solids handed over molten); part 2 "15" is minimum calculation pressure of 15 bar (see 6.8.2.1.14). Part 3 "D" (openings): filled and discharged from the top; nothing opens below the liquid surface. Part 4 "H" (safety valves/devices): the tank is hermetically closed (see 1.2.1). The "(+)" restricts the tank: it may be used alternately for other substances only if its certificate of type approval allows it, and the column (13) special provisions complete the requirements (4.3.4.1.3). The code gives the least stringent tank accepted; others may be used under the hierarchy in 4.3.4.1.2.
| tank type: L | tank for liquid-state substances (liquids, or solids handed over molten) |
|---|---|
| calculation pressure: 15 | minimum calculation pressure of 15 bar (see 6.8.2.1.14) |
| openings: D | filled and discharged from the top; nothing opens below the liquid surface |
| safety valves: H | hermetically closed (see 1.2.1) |
| suffix: (+) | alternative use of the tank for other substances is allowed only where the certificate of type approval says so (3.2.1 column (12); 4.3.4.1.3) |
Note. Tank codes permitted in place of this one: see the rationalized approach and hierarchy in 4.3.4.1.2 (Volume II pages 217–222); not computed here. L15DH appears in the 4.3.4.1.3 list on Volume II page 223 (outside the cited range); this record is anchored to the 4.3.4.1.1 table instead. Anchored on the calculation-pressure / tank-type line of 4.3.4.1.1 (page 216); the openings and safety-valve letters are decoded on page 217.
