ADR tank code SGAV

ADR tank code for Classes 1 and 3–9: solid tank, G (general minimum), openings A, valves/devices V.

SGAV is decoded part by part from the 4.3.4.1.1 table for Classes 1 and 3–9. Part 1 "S" is a tank for solid-state substances (powdery or granular); part 2 "G" is minimum calculation pressure under the general requirements of 6.8.2.1.14. Part 3 "A" (openings): filling or discharge openings at the bottom, each with 2 closures. Part 4 "V" (safety valves/devices): the tank has a 6.8.2.2.6 breather device but no flame-propagation protection, or is not explosion-pressure-shock resistant. The code gives the least stringent tank accepted; others may be used under the hierarchy in 4.3.4.1.2.
