ADR loading provision CV21
Temperature-controlled carriage: inspect unit, brief the carrier, carry enough refrigerant, keep packages accessible, hold control temperature throughout.
The transport unit is inspected thoroughly before loading. Before carriage the carrier must be told how the refrigeration system works, with a list of coolant suppliers on the route, and what to do if temperature control is lost. With methods 7.1.7.4.5 (b) or (d), an adequate supply of a refrigerant that is not flammable (dry ice or liquid nitrogen, for example), with a reasonable margin for delays, is carried unless replenishment is assured. Packages are stowed for easy access, and the control temperature is held for the whole operation, including loading, unloading and stops.
Conditions
- Thorough inspection of the transport unit before loading.
- Carrier informed of refrigeration operation, coolant suppliers en route, and loss-of-control procedures.
- Methods 7.1.7.4.5 (b) or (d): sufficient non-flammable refrigerant plus margin, unless replenishment assured.
- Packages readily accessible.
- Control temperature maintained throughout, including loading, unloading and intermediate stops.
