ADR special provision 284
Chemical oxygen generators with oxidizers: excluded from Class 1 if explosive-actuated, must survive a 1.8 m drop, and need two safeguards against actuation.
Chemical oxygen generators holding oxidizing substances must meet three conditions. A generator with an explosive actuating device may use this entry only when the note to 2.2.1.1.1 (b) takes it out of Class 1. The unpackaged generator must withstand a 1.8 m drop onto a hard, flat, horizontal surface in its most vulnerable orientation, without losing contents or being triggered. Any generator fitted with an actuating device needs at least two positive means of stopping accidental actuation.
