ADR special provision 291
Flammable liquefied gas must be inside refrigerating machine parts tested to 3 × working pressure; machines with under 12 kg of gas are outside ADR.
Flammable liquefied gases under this entry must be held within components of the refrigerating machine. Those components must be designed and tested to no less than three times the machine working pressure, and the machine must be built to hold the gas without the pressure parts bursting or cracking in normal carriage. Refrigerating machines and their components are exempt from ADR when they hold less than 12 kg of gas. Heat pumps may be treated as refrigerating machines for carriage.
| Value | Applies when |
|---|---|
| 3 times working pressure | minimum design and test pressure of components |
| 12 kg | gas content below which machines and components are exempt |
