ADR special provision 407
Fire suppressant dispersing devices must meet 1.4S criteria (test series 6 (c)) and be safed; Class 9 UN 3559 needs extra conditions and authority approval.
Fire suppressant dispersing devices are articles holding a pyrotechnic substance that disperses an extinguishing agent or aerosol when activated, and containing no other dangerous goods. As packaged for carriage they must meet the criteria for Division 1.4, Compatibility Group S under test series 6 (c) (Manual of Tests and Criteria, Part I, Section 16). The activation means must be removed, or at least two independent safeguards against accidental activation fitted. Assigning them to Class 9, UN 3559 requires conditions (a) to (d). The entry does not cover SAFETY DEVICES, electrically initiated (UN 3268), which special provision 280 deals with.
