Pyrophoric alkaline earth metals and alloys are Class 4.2; magnesium (> 50 %) pellets, turnings or ribbons (UN 1869) are Class 4.1.
Alkaline earth metals and their alloys in pyrophoric form fall in Class 4.2. Magnesium, or magnesium alloys with more than 50 % magnesium, as pellets, turnings or ribbons (UN 1869) fall in Class 4.1.
