Barium azide, dry or with less than 50 % water by mass (UN 0224), is Class 1; with at least 50 % water by mass (UN 1571) it is Class 4.1. Pyrophoric barium alloys (UN 1854) are Class 4.2. Class 5.1 takes barium chlorate solid (UN 1445), nitrate (UN 1446), perchlorate solid (UN 1447), permanganate (UN 1448), peroxide (UN 1449), bromate (UN 2719), hypochlorite with more than 22 % available chlorine (UN 2741), chlorate solution (UN 3405) and perchlorate solution (UN 3406). Barium cyanide (UN 1565) and barium oxide (UN 1884) are Class 6.1.
