ADR special provision 640M
SP 640 letter M: "Special provision 640M" for ADR tanks; marks UN 1202 gas oil/diesel/light heating oil, flash-point > 60 °C to ≤ 100 °C.
Special provision 640 makes column (2) characteristics decide the tank code within a packing group; for carriage in ADR tanks the transport document must include "Special provision 640" with the column (6) letter — here 640M — unless the tank meets at least the most stringent requirements for the UN number and packing group. In Table A, 640M is on UN 1202 (gas oil, diesel fuel or light heating oil), Class 3, packing group III, flash-point above 60 °C and up to 100 °C.

|---|---|
| 60 °C flash-point | above this (Table A entry carrying 640M) |
| 100 °C flash-point | not above this (Table A entry carrying 640M) |
| documents | "Special provision 640M" in the transport document, ADR tank carriage only, unless the tank meets the most stringent requirements. |
