ADR special provision 663
Only for emptied packagings/IBCs sent to disposal or recycling with adhering Class 9, 8, 6.1, 5.1, 4.1 or 3 residues, with exclusions.
Restricted to discarded packagings, IBCs and large packagings (or their parts) that once held dangerous goods and are carried for disposal, recycling or material recovery — not for reconditioning, repair, maintenance, remanufacturing or reuse — and that have been emptied so only adhering residues remain. Residues must be Class 9, 8, 6.1, 5.1, 4.1 or 3 only, and exclude packing group I goods, goods with "0" in column (7a), desensitized explosives, self-reactive substances, radioactive material, asbestos, PCBs and the polyhalogenated substances of UN 3151/3152. Items with a Class 5.1 residue hazard may not be bulk-loaded or co-packed with items bearing residues of other classes, and documented sorting procedures are required at the loading site. All other ADR provisions apply.
Conditions
- Class 9, 8, 6.1, 5.1, 4.1 or 3 residues only.
- Excluded residues: packing group I; column (7a) "0"; desensitized explosives of Class 3 or 4.1; self-reactive substances of Class 4.1; radioactive material; asbestos (UN 2212, 2590); PCBs (UN 2315, 3432); polyhalogenated biphenyls/terphenyls and halogenated monomethyldiphenylmethanes (UN 3151, 3152).
- Items with Class 5.1 primary or subsidiary residue hazard kept apart from other classes in bulk and in the same outer packaging.
- Documented sorting procedures in place at the loading site.
