ADR special provision 667
Damaged vehicles, engines or machinery with lithium or sodium ion batteries: 2.2.9.1.7.1/.2 do not apply; carry under SP 363/666 or remove per SP 376.
The battery requirements of 2.2.9.1.7 (first two sub-paragraphs) do not apply to lithium or sodium ion cells and batteries in damaged or defective vehicles, engines or machinery. If the damage has no significant effect on battery safety, the item may be carried under special provision 363 or 666 as appropriate. If it does, the battery must be removed and carried under special provision 376 — but where safe removal or checking its condition is impossible, the item may be towed or carried as in the first case. The same procedure covers damaged batteries installed in vehicles, engines or machinery. Paragraph (a) is deleted.
Conditions
- (b)(i) No significant safety impact on the battery: carry under special provision 363 or 666.
- (b)(ii) Significant safety impact: remove the battery and carry it under special provision 376; if removal or verification is not safely possible, tow or carry as under (i).
- (c) Damaged batteries fitted in vehicles, engines or machinery follow the same (b) procedure.
Note. Sub-paragraph (a) is printed as deleted.
