ADR special provision 670

Lithium/sodium ion batteries in household equipment collected for recycling or disposal escape most of ADR, subject to (a) or (b) conditions.

Two routes free household equipment batteries from the remaining ADR provisions (special provision 376 and the 2.2.9.1.7 battery requirements included) when collected for depollution, dismantling, recycling or disposal. Under (a), cells or batteries that do not power the equipment's main operation, such as button cells that preserve data in household appliances, qualify outright if no other cell or battery in the item is the main power source and the equipment protects them. Under (b), other household equipment qualifies up to the intermediate processing facility if packed to P909 (without additional requirements 1 and 2) or in strong collection receptacles meeting listed design rules, with a quality assurance system capping the total at 333 kg per transport unit and the disposal or recycling mark. Household equipment includes similar commercial or institutional equipment, and anything usable by both kinds of user.
