ADR tank special provision TU11
Filling temperature limited to 60 °C, or 80 °C if smoulder spots are prevented and the tank is pressure-checked and kept above atmospheric pressure.
The substance must not exceed 60 °C while being loaded. Loading at up to 80 °C is allowed only where smoulder spots are prevented and the listed conditions are met. Those conditions cover a tightness check by pressurising after filling, keeping the tank pressurised throughout carriage, and checking the pressure before discharge.
| Value | Applies when |
|---|---|
| 60 °C | maximum filling temperature |
| 80 °C | maximum filling temperature allowed when smoulder spots are prevented and the conditions are met |
Conditions
- After loading, pressurise the tank (compressed air is given as an example) to confirm it is tight.
- Make sure the tank does not lose its pressure during the journey.
- Before unloading, confirm the tank pressure is still above atmospheric; if not, inject an inert gas before discharging.
Note. Page 224 prints the codes TU8 to TU20 in a separate column from their texts in the extraction; the text was matched to the code by order (13 codes, 13 text blocks, TU10 and TU20 both reading "(Reserved)").
