ADR tank special provision TU39
Suitability for tank carriage must be demonstrated by a method approved by the competent authority; the substance must not be left long enough to cake.
Whether the substance can safely travel in tanks must be proven, using an evaluation method approved by the competent authority. Test 8(d) of test series 8 (Manual of Tests and Criteria, sub-section 18.7 of Part 1) is named as one acceptable method. The substance must not stay in the tank so long that it could cake, and steps such as cleaning must be taken so that it does not build up or pack down inside.
Note. Page 226 prints the codes TU38 to TU43 in a separate column from their texts in the extraction, and part of the TU39 text is printed twice; the text was matched to the code by order. Verify against the PDF.
