ADR hazard number 90

Hazard identification number 90 on the orange plate: environmentally hazardous substance, or a miscellaneous dangerous substance.

Printed in the upper half of the orange-coloured plate above the UN number, 90 identifies an environmentally hazardous substance, or a miscellaneous dangerous substance. This is one of the figure combinations that 5.3.2.3.1 gives a special meaning, read as a whole rather than figure by figure.

Digit by digit
9risk of a spontaneous violent reaction (by the nature of the substance: explosion, disintegration or polymerization with much heat or flammable and/or toxic gases released)
0no further hazard: a single figure describes the hazard adequately, so it is followed by zero

Note. 5.3.2.3.1 lists 90 among the combinations with a special meaning, so read it as a whole from the 5.3.2.3.2 list; the per-figure reading in digits[] does not fully apply. Number and meaning pairing checked against a second text extraction of the list.

Refers to: 5.3.2.3.1; 5.3.2.2.3; Table A column (20).
