ADR packing instruction IBC02

Heading in ADR: “PACKING INSTRUCTION”

Liquids under IBC02 may use metal (31A/31B/31N), rigid plastics (31H1/31H2) or composite 31HZ1 IBCs, with B and BB limits per UN number.

IBC02 permits three IBC families for liquids: metal (31A, 31B, 31N), rigid plastics (31H1, 31H2) and composite (31HZ1). The general rules in sections 4.1.1 to 4.1.3 apply. Several special packing provisions narrow this for named UN numbers, covering venting devices, a 450-litre cap, a ban on the pure form of high vapour pressure substances, a two-year life for plastics IBCs carrying strong nitric acid, and competent authority approval for metal IBCs with UN 3375.
