ADR portable tank provision TP32
Conditions for UN 0331, 0332 and 3375 in portable tanks: relief device, suitability test for 3375, no caking.
Portable tanks may be used for UN 0331, 0332 and 3375 only on three conditions. The conditions list keeps them in order.
| Value | Applies when |
|---|---|
| 2.65 bar | maximum discharge/burst pressure of the relief device on tanks tested above 4 bar |
| 4 bar | minimum test pressure above which the 2.65 bar cap applies |
Conditions
- (a) Every metal or FRP portable tank has a pressure-relief device (reclosing spring-loaded type, frangible disc or fusible element) to avoid needless confinement; for tanks with a minimum test pressure above 4 bar its set-to-discharge or burst pressure may not exceed 2.65 bar.
- (b) For UN 3375 alone, suitability for tank carriage must be demonstrated, for example with test 8 (d) of test series 8 (Manual of Tests and Criteria, sub-section 18.7, Part 1).
- (c) The substance may not stay in the tank long enough to cake, and measures such as cleaning are taken to stop build-up and packing inside the tank.
Note. On page 201 the TP19–TP33 codes are printed in a column separate from their texts; texts were matched to codes in printed order (15 codes, 15 texts).
