ADR tank special provision TE3
Phosphorus tanks: external heating only, top-entry piping, lockable caps on openings and a level gauge for phosphorus and water.
These tanks carry additional equipment rules. The heater must sit outside the shell and not pass into it, though the phosphorus extraction pipe may have a heating jacket controlled so the phosphorus never gets hotter than the shell's filling temperature. All other pipework enters through the top of the shell, with openings above the highest allowed phosphorus level that can be fully closed under lockable caps. A gauging system must show the phosphorus level, and where water is the protective agent a fixed mark must show the highest permitted water level.
