DPU — Responsibilities & Risk
Seller's Responsibility
All transport, risk, and unloading at named destination. Export clearance.
Buyer's Responsibility
Import clearance and duties.
Risk Transfer Point
At named destination, once goods are unloaded.
Cost Transfer Point
At named destination, including unloading.
Insurance Obligation
No obligation, but seller bears risk.
Export Clearance
Seller.
Import Clearance
Buyer.
Best For
When the named destination is a terminal or port where seller can arrange unloading.
Watch Out
Renamed from DAT (Delivered at Terminal) in 2020. Now allows delivery at ANY place, not just a terminal. Seller must ensure they can actually unload at the named destination.
