Buyer's Responsibility
Loading onto vessel, main carriage, insurance, import clearance, duties.
Risk Transfer Point
When goods are placed alongside the vessel at port of shipment.
Cost Transfer Point
At port of shipment, alongside vessel.
Insurance Obligation
No obligation on either party.
Export Clearance
Seller.
Import Clearance
Buyer.
Best For
Bulk cargo or heavy/oversized goods loaded by ship's tackle at port.
Watch Out
Sea and inland waterway transport ONLY. Not suitable for containerised cargo (use FCA instead — containers are typically handed to the carrier at a terminal, not alongside the ship).
