ADR special provision 650
Paint waste may go as UN 1263 PG II or UN 3082, with extra options for packing, flexible IBCs, bulk and a set document description.
Waste of paint packaging residues and solidified or liquid paint residues may be carried under UN 1263 packing group II or UN 3082 as appropriate. Besides those entries' own rules, it may be packed to P002 or IBC06 (mixing UN 1263 waste with water-based paint waste under UN 3082 is allowed), or in flexible IBCs 13H3, 13H4 or 13H5 within full-walled overpacks. Packaging tests may use the Chapter 6.1/6.5 solids tests at PG II level with a representative waste sample. Bulk carriage in sheeted vehicles or closed or sheeted containers with complete walls is allowed; in mixed loads the whole content is assigned to UN 1263 and the body must be leakproof. The transport document describes the goods per 5.4.1.1.3.1 using the WASTE PAINT name for UN 1263 or the WASTE ... N.O.S. (PAINT) name for UN 3082.
Conditions
- (a) Packing to P002 or IBC06 allowed; UN 1263 waste and water-based paint waste under UN 3082 may be packed together.

- (c) Packagings and IBCs under (a) or (b) may be tested as for solids at the PG II level, filled with a representative waste sample.
- (d) Bulk allowed in sheeted vehicles, closed containers or sheeted large containers with complete walls; mixed UN 1263 / UN 3082 loads are all declared UN 1263; body leakproof, e.g. with an inner lining.
