ADR special provision 640D

SP 640 letter D: in ADR tanks the document shows "Special provision 640D"; on Class 3 PG II entries it marks vapour pressure at 50 °C ≤ 110 kPa.

Special provision 640 ties different tank codes within one packing group to the physical characteristics named in column (2) of Table A. When carried in ADR tanks, the transport document must carry "Special provision 640" plus the column (6) letter — here 640D — unless the tank meets at least the most stringent requirements for that UN number and packing group. In Table A, 640D is the counterpart of 640C on Class 3 packing group II entries (e.g. UN 1133, 1139, 1268, 1286, 1287, 1306, 1308) whose column (2) name gives a vapour pressure not exceeding 110 kPa at 50 °C.

Note. 3.3.1 prints no separate text for the letter D; the vapour-pressure criterion comes from the column (2) names of the Table A rows carrying 640D (Volume I, pages 342–360).
